Ken Cauthen, LNFA - Administrator

Ken Cauthen has served in the health care industry for over thirty years.  After graduating from Houston Baptist University, where he also met his wife of thirty six years, Ken began his career as a lobbyist for the Greater Houston Hospital Council, assisting Houston Medical Center administrators with both state and federal legislative issues.  He later went on to serve at Memorial City Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston as assistant administrator, where he opened the hospital’s Skilled Nursing Unit.

It was through this experience that his love for long term care grew.  In 1990, Mr. Cauthen accepted his first position with Buckner Benevolences as a nursing home administrator in Austin, TX.  Following a successful transformation of the Austin facility, he went on to serve as Vice President of Development, Marketing, and Public Relations for the 165 year old Buckner organization, assisting all their retirement facilities throughout Texas.

Mr. Cauthen continued his love for senior adults and health care in general.  In 2000, he developed a 110 luxury home subdivision for seniors in the Tyler/East Texas area. Following his work there, Mr. Cauthen stayed in East Texas and served with Mercy Ships in the Development Department, focusing primarily on raising money to construct and maintain The Africa Mercy, the world’s largest non-military hospital ship.

While having many exciting times in healthcare, his greatest love, however, has been to serve as administrator of Vista Nursing and Rehabilitation since 2008.  Mr. Cauthen credits his long tenure at Vista to having the privilege of working with incredibly capable and caring staff and department heads.  “They make coming to work every day a honor and a joy.”
